she is careful not to BRUSH SHOULDERS with the jedi knight as they stand side-by-side in the turbolift – but finds herself surprisingly at ease in his presence ( where she once would have expected TENSION ). it could be because of the fact that his curiosity is similar to her own … therefore, she is easier to relate to that one similarity than the thousands of differences. regardless, this first step is a good one.

❛ two helmsmen, typically; a navigator and a pilot. but to fly a functional ship you would need engineers. the enterprise is so large, it requires constant maintenance and upholding. though sturdy, i would not suggest leaving it to run on its own for an extended period of time, especially at high warp speeds. ❜     the turbolift ascent lasts only seconds before t’palia stops it on one of the LOWER DECKS. engineering. she gambles that he’ll be incredibly interested in the warp core – the ingenuity of it all. towering structures with a unique energy pulsing within them. the heart of the ship. how dutifully the operations officers dart about ensuring that the enterprise is kept at her best. a corridor rather crowded with various piping OPENS UP to a spacious chamber, and sitting in the middle of all the machines and tubing sits a massive, vaguely circular structure ( or, many parts that come together to form a type of dome ), within lies the warp core. the noise almost hurts sensitive ears, but dances just inside her tolerance level.

❛ this is engineering. the ship’s warp core lies in the – domed chamber ahead. ❜

AIMLESS, UNFOCUSED ENERGY burns through his muscles, scrambling for an outlet, its onset sudden enough to denote some kind of signal in the Force; rather than the product of the bouts of anxiety that consistently plague him. He arches an eyebrow, unable to read any kind of warning in T’palia’s impassive features.

❝ Attack cruisers and the Enterprise have that in common, but on a bigger scale. We need at least twenty helmsmen && require a minimum crew of five thousand seven thousand ideally. ❞ Ships of war, not ships of exploration && diplomacy. It’s an indisputable example of their differences, of the opposing stars && skies they hail from. The Federation has no battles to win, no bodies to bury.

                At least not right now.

The turbolift slides to a stop, the doors hissing open, followed by a bellowing vibration that blurs across Anakin’s senses. She leads him to where the noise is housed: a brilliant patchwork of silver circuitry, covering thick rectangular beams that descend from the ceiling, slotted into a blue, circular chamber he assumes to be none other than the warp core even before T’palia confirms his presumption.

Anakin blinks, impressed or somewhat startled. ❝ I didn’t expect it to be so big. ❞
