his hands seem rough for what she considers a book shop, one she has, admittedly, been in before. padme takes his money though, wondering what made them so and glancing at hers   ( her own hands are smooth, soft, and her nails are painted a deep purple. sure, they’re cut short, but obviously unbitten. it’d have gotten her smacked back in Naboo. anything less than perfect — )   she snaps from the train of thought and smiles again. in her time she’s been called a lot of things but SHY is rarely if ever among that list.

she’s NOT blind to the way his eyes had flicked down, though she’s not sure if she’s doing more harm that good with the sticky, bubblegum smile on her lips.   —   ❝ see something you like? ❞

but she might short circuit the boy, so as quickly as she’s said it she’s changing the topic, the pendant at the dip of her neck bobs when she swallows.            ❝ i have to ask, next door, do you guys practice? like are you practicing pagans. i’ve kind of wanted to stop in before but you never know how people will react if you’re serious. ❞            and padme is, because she KNOWS magic is real in the same way she knows she has a beating heart, tucking the money in the register as she starts to get his cup, staying in range to make conversation still possible.

ANAKIN TURNS A truly impressive shade of red at that, cowed && a bit ashamed to have been caught looking. But the Force sings around her, quiet but vibrant in drifting shades of lilac, shot through with a faint scatter of starlight. Pulsing faintly with a celestial heartbeat, a unique aura, with its edges scarred in the way only survivors’ are. They have that in common, it seems. It makes Anakin want to reach out && mend— but he’s never been much of a healer. Always better at harming than helping.

A tremor takes to the fingers of his right hand, && Anakin reaches out his left to gather his change && drop it immediately into the tip jar. Which he hopes she doesn’t take the wrong way. But maybe he’s reading too deeply into things.

On the topic of paganism Anakin lets out a small laugh, the color draining from his cheeks && neck until he looks less heirloom && more sun kissed. ❝ We’re not pagan, but everything we sell can be used for pagan rituals. ❞ Anakin doesn’t think he’s ever subscribed to simply one method of magic, from the Brujeria of his homeland to basic wicca. But la Fuerza is ever-present throughout them all. ❝ What do you practice? ❞
