I’ve talked about in the past how I’m developing a pantheon of gods for Tatooine for reference in my portrayal. So without further ado this is a shortened version of the myth of the twin suns.

Tatoo is the most storied of the gods in Tatooine mythos, as the planet itself was named for him, as a gift from the Father of the desert, Cok’han. Tatoo was the first child of Cok’han && the Dune Mother, && known for being arrogant && a bit of a trickster. His sister, Cuiia presided over the rain && clouds. Her child was Alaon, a small ocean that used to exist where now there is only sand. Tatoo hated his sister for hiding his brilliance with her mercuriality, && sought to destroy her && dominant the sky they shared domain of. So he did.

It was the day Cuiia died that Cok’han became the Father of the desert, && the Dune Mother, whose original name has been lost over time, exiled herself in grief to the wastes. Cok’han, furious at what his son had done, sent the warrior god Nikorgzil to capture Tatoo && bring him before the Father for judgement. Nikorgzil did as he was told, but in the process was forced to split Tatoo in two in order to apprehend him. He returned the pieces of the sun god to Cok’han, who cursed his two halves to live as sleeping dragons at the center the suns. Alaon was destroyed without his mother to feed him, && soon withered away into the great basin that can sometimes be mined for briny water.

However, it is foretold one day Tatoo I && Tatoo II will awaken && have their revenge on their father by consuming the planet in fiery destruction. What is now commonly referred to as a supernova.
